Community Announcements

Community updates, Omni Management notices, and neighborhood news posted here as they happen. The forum is another communication channel alongside the newsletter — and may eventually take on more of that role over time.

💬

Neighbor Discussions

A space to ask questions, share recommendations, raise concerns, or just connect with the people who live nearby. You’ll need an account with the invite code to view or participate — joining is free and takes just a minute.

Community Polling

Have an opinion on something that affects the neighborhood? Polls let homeowners weigh in on what matters — not just those who make it to a meeting. Some polls are anonymous, some are not, depending on the topic.

🔒

Transparent Moderation

The forum is moderated by your neighbors, not a management company. A small group of homeowner moderators keeps discussions respectful and on-topic. Anyone can flag a post for review — the goal is a space everyone feels comfortable in.

🏫

Vendor Recommendations

Looking for a reliable plumber, landscaper, or electrician? Neighbor-vetted recommendations organized by trade — real experiences from people who live here, not online reviews from strangers.

A better way to stay connected

The Windswept Farms community forum is another way to stay connected — alongside the print newsletter, emails, and word of mouth the community already relies on. Whether you want to catch up on the latest community news, ask a neighbor about a contractor recommendation, or vote on a community proposal, it’s all here. Down the road it may take on more of the newsletter’s role, but for now it’s simply one more way to keep everyone in the loop.

An account is required to view anything on the forum — no public access. Registration is free and open to all Windswept Farms homeowners. All you need is the invite code and a completed profile for membership verification.

Questions before you join?

We've answered the most common ones below.

How do I join and what’s the invite code?
The invite code is WS2026! — right there, no need to email anyone. Register and you’ll get in right away. Just complete your profile with your name and address afterward so we can match you to the homeowner roster. It only takes a minute and it’s the one thing that keeps this a real neighborhood forum instead of the internet in general. If we can’t verify you, your account gets suspended until we can — and if we truly can’t, it gets removed. We’d love to have every Windswept Farms homeowner here. Unless you don’t live here — go join your own HOA forum, okay?
Are polls anonymous?
Some polls are anonymous, some aren’t — it depends on the question and how much drama potential it has. Just kidding. Mostly. Anonymous polls are meant to give honest feedback without anyone feeling put on the spot — they help gauge the general temperature around a concern or issue. When a poll is anonymous, it’s genuinely anonymous: no one will know how you voted unless you tell them.
Who moderates the forum?
The forum is managed and moderated by homeowners. A small group of volunteer moderators — your neighbors — keeps things civil and on-topic. A good rule of thumb: if you pause and ask yourself “Is this appropriate?” and you’re not sure — it probably isn’t, and it may get flagged for review. The moderation team isn’t looking for reasons to act, but they will when they need to.
What does Omni Management post here?
Omni Management has an account available to post announcements when the time is right. For now, the forum is homeowner-run. If you have something that needs Omni’s attention, contact them directly — they won’t see it here.
How often is the forum updated?
As often as neighbors are talking — potentially every day. Official announcements are posted as they happen. Have an idea for a new discussion category that isn’t there yet? Ask and we’ll consider it.
How does this work and what does it cost?
The forum runs on a Raspberry Pi 5 — a small, energy-efficient home server about the size of a deck of cards — sitting in a homeowner’s home, on their internet connection, on their electricity bill, on a battery backup. Traffic routes securely through Cloudflare. The only ongoing cost is the domain name, roughly $11 per year. No subscription fees, no ads, no third-party platform costs. It costs approximately the same as a bad cup of coffee per year. Uptime is monitored and alerts fire if anything goes wrong. The only way it goes offline is if the power goes out long enough to drain the battery, or the internet goes out — so if it’s down, check your own connection first.
Is my data secure and what do you store?
Yes — and we take it seriously. The forum runs behind Cloudflare and the server isn’t publicly accessible. Software updates and database backups run automatically. We store only what’s necessary: your name, street, and email. If you added a phone number to your profile, other verified members can see that — that one’s on you. No ad profiles, no tracking, no selling anything to anyone. Your data lives on a private server in a homeowner’s home, not in some massive data center. We take reasonable precautions because data breaches are a real thing — but if the unthinkable happened, the information on this server is already part of public HOA records. Nobody’s getting your credit card number or social security number because we don’t have them. The most a hacker would learn is that you live in Windswept Farms, which they could find out by driving through the neighborhood.
What happens if the forum is discontinued?
If this project ever shuts down, the database gets deleted and the server gets repurposed for something else entirely. No third party holding your data, no lingering copies, no targeted ads for lawn fertilizer following you around the internet. Just gone.
Can I post anonymously?
No — posts are tied to your account and your neighbors will know it’s you. Think of it as a neighborhood cookout, not an anonymous tip line. That said, certain polls can be set to anonymous, so if you have Strong Opinions about the entrance landscaping and don’t want to own them publicly, there’s a path for that.
What can I actually post here?
Neighborhood stuff — questions, ideas, feedback, discussions about things that affect where we live. Roads, events, drainage, community concerns, that kind of thing. We have categories for specific topics — use them, and if you don’t see one that fits, ask and we’ll consider adding it. What this isn’t: a place to air grievances about specific neighbors, fight HOA violations publicly, or demand action on things that need to go through Omni. Keep it constructive and on-topic and you’ll fit right in. Get weird about it and you’ll meet the moderation team.
I have an issue with my account — who do I contact?
Email the Forum Manager at [email protected] with your username and a brief explanation and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. If your account was suspended and you think it was a mistake, same process — suspensions happen for a reason but appeals are always considered.
